Robin's SILVR Story

Johnstown, USAShared June 16, 2026

In 2018, I was watching younger women pay big dollars to get the hair I was paying big dollars to cover! I’d known for a while I was ready to stop coloring, but it was when I asked my daughter if she’d prefer I wait to stop coloring until after her wedding and she was “Do it now Mom. Girls my age are paying for it and you’ve got it.” Fast forward to 2020 and I was in love with the journey while also frustrated with the lack of media exposure showing how awesome silver and aging can be. So, of course, I created and launched the first magazine by and for silver women in 2021 to share our stories and show our wisdom at any and every age. Our hair color and age don’t define our relevancy. How we choose to do life does! I’m proud to be a part of the movement that continues to grow and see all the amazing women embracing beauty and aging on their terms while helping to update the narratives around silver. It’s just another color in the crayon box, so love it up!

Grey Doesn’t Scare Me My silver story is really just beginning. I only have a few grey hairs right now, not enough to blend or do much with, so yes, I still dye my hair for the time being. But I’m not afraid of the grey coming in. It doesn’t make me nervous, and it certainly doesn’t…

My mum had silver hair, although she hated it. I remember her colouring it the moment a sparkle showed through at her hairline. I don’t think either of us could have imagined that one day her silver hair would change the course of my life. I noticed my first silver hairs in my mid-twenties. Like…

For years, coloring my hair was just part of the routine, the appointments, the upkeep, the damage, and the endless cycle of chasing roots. After years of maintenance, I was tired. Then turning 50 shifted something in me. I found myself asking, for what? For whom? My husband, Mike, encouraged me to let my hair go…
