My first attempt was during the lockdowns. With everything shut down, it felt like the perfect time to stop coloring my hair. I made significant progress and truly thought I was going to see it through.
But when businesses started reopening, I was back to work as a tattoo artist. I convinced myself I needed to “look the part,” so I colored my hair again.
It turned out to be one of my biggest regrets.
In 2021, I decided to try again. This time, I promised myself I would stick it out no matter how hard it got. And honestly… it was incredibly challenging.
As a tattoo artist, I felt self-conscious about the grow-out. I hid behind hats, scarves, and wide headbands because I was embarrassed. I even received negative comments from people, and there were days I questioned whether I was doing the right thing.
But little by little, it got easier.
The line of demarcation disappeared. My confidence grew. I stopped worrying about what other people thought and started appreciating what I saw in the mirror.
If you’re just starting your own grey hair journey and you’re struggling, I understand.
Today, I absolutely love my grey hair. It’s become a part of who I am, and I’ve never felt more comfortable being myself.
If you’re just starting your own grey hair journey and you’re struggling, I understand. I’ve been there. Keep going. The awkward stage is temporary, but the confidence that comes from embracing who you are is worth every moment.
You might just discover, like I did, that what you were once afraid to show becomes the thing you love the most. 🤍

Everyone’s silver hair journey is unique. Mine started a little differently. I began coloring my hair in my early twenties, not to cover gray, but simply because I liked the look. The problem was that I could never keep up with the salon appointments. Before long, my roots would show, and they always bothered me. No…

I deeply respect it…honor it… and continue covering it with unwavering commitment.😂 But truly, I love that women are feeling empowered to choose whatever version of themselves makes them feel beautiful, silver included. I also love the confidence and freedom behind the “go silver” movement… there’s something really special about women embracing themselves exactly…

I’m a Hairdresser and started going grey about 3years ago and being an unconventional Hairdresser with grey hair and loving it.
