After more than 30 years of coloring my hair every three weeks or so, I finally reached a point where I was ready to ditch the dye and reclaim a little piece of myself. I was exhausted by the constant hyper-fixation of wondering whether my gray roots were showing, planning my next time I would dye my roots, and feeling like I always had to keep up with a cycle that never seemed to end. What I didn’t fully realize was how much that cycle was limiting me, not just physically, but in my mind and spirit.
Four and a half years ago, I decided to stop the madness and let nature take the lead. I was ready to embrace the woman I was becoming instead of constantly trying to cover up a part of myself that was naturally evolving. Thankfully, my partner and loved ones supported me, encouraged me, and cheered me on throughout the journey. Their love made the transition even more special.
My silver hair is more than a color; it’s a symbol of self-love, confidence, authenticity, and the courage to embrace every season of life.
And that line of demarcation? I rocked it! I fell in love with the edgy, unapologetic grombre vibes and discovered a confidence I never knew I was missing. I stopped seeing my silver as something to hide and started seeing it as something to celebrate. Every stage of the transition reminded me that freedom can be found in letting go of the things that no longer serve us.
Today, I proudly show off and claim my crown of splendor. My silver hair is more than a color; it’s a symbol of self-love, confidence, authenticity, and the courage to embrace every season of life. I’m no longer chasing the illusion of staying the same. I’m celebrating the beauty of becoming more fully myself.
Four and a half years dye-free, and I’ve never felt more free, fierce, and authentically ME! Silver isn’t something I’m growing into anymore. It’s something I’ve proudly claimed.

I used to dye my roots every 2 weeks, religiously. Yet secretly, I admired women with their beautiful gray hair. I looked at pictures online wishing/hoping that I had the “courage” to do it too. One day, after dyeing my hair, I said- this is the last time I’ll do it and that was it.…

My Silver Hair Journey 🤍 I’m Zeynep Suyani. I’m 37 years old and I live in Adana, Türkiye. I started my silver hair journey about two years ago. Initially, I tried to hide the gray hairs I saw in the mirror. Each gray hair made me feel a little older. I covered them with dye,…
